BPL: 5 players to look out for this season
Will Jacks - Chattogram Challengers
The big-hitting Surrey batsman, who can also pitch in with some useful offspin, adds to England's already deep white-ball talent pool. In the 2020 Vitality Blast, where Surrey finished second, he made 309 runs in 12 innings with a strike rate of slightly under 150. Jacks has gained increased recognition since being crowned the Vitality Blast Player of the Year in 2020. He also previously played for the Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL, the Oval Invincibles in the Hundred, and the Bangla Tigers in the Abu Dhabi T10 league.

Kennar Lewis - Chattogram Challengers
Lewis is another hard-hitting top-of-the-order batsman who will make his BPL debut. He has spent the majority of his career at Jamaica Tallawahs in the CPL in the shadow of Andre Russell. While Lewis' fitness is in doubt, this is another opportunity for him to emerge from the shadows and shine in the T20 spotlight. Lewis smashed 195 runs off 117 balls in powerplays in CPL 2021, a strike rate of 166.66. In addition to the T10 league, he also competed in the Lanka Premier League.

Tanvir Islam - Comilla Victorians
In domestic T20 events in Bangladesh over the previous two years, the left-arm spinner has the best bowling average and economy rate, as well as one of the best strike rates. Tanvir is a typical Bangladeshi left-arm spinner who hits good lengths consistently and has great accuracy. He also attracted attention by taking 50 wickets in his first two DPL seasons. His impressive results attracted the selectors in picking him for Bangladesh A in 2019. He has also participated in squads like the Emerging Team and Under-23s.

Fazalhaq Farooqi - Minister Group Dhaka
Apart from Naveen-ul-Haq, Farooqi is Afghanistan's most potential speed bowling prospect, having already proven himself as a T20 - and T10 - globetrotter. Last year, he was also signed as a reserve bowler by Chennai Super Kings after bowling with pace and bounce in the nets. Farooqi is expected to join the Dhaka squad following a three-match ODI series against the Netherlands, which concludes on January 25.

Jake Lintott - Fortune Barishal
Lintott emerged as Southern Brave's highest wicket-taker after being a wildcard pick in the Hundred, and consequently gained a deal with Barbados Royals in the CPL. It's difficult to envisage an overseas left-arm spinner getting a look-in in a Barishal squad that features two of Bangladesh's best left-arm spinners, Shakib Al Hasan and Taijul Islam. Lintott, on the other hand, has a unique skill set: he is a T20 specialist who bowls left-arm wristspin. Even without Mujeeb Ur Rahman, who will be on national duty for Afghanistan during the early exchanges of the BPL, Barishal's spin assault might still be effective with Lintott in the mix.
