After Ottis Gibson's contract was not renewed, former Australia pacer Shaun Tait expressed interest in becoming Bangladesh's bowling coach. Gibson has been named Yorkshire CCC's new head coach, and his contract will begin next month.

Meanwhile, at last year's T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates and Oman, the former pacer served as the bowling coach for the Afghanistan team. He will join the Chattogram Challengers for the 2019 Bangladesh Premier League season, which begins on January 21.

The 38-year-old gushed about the country's cricketers and the sport in general. He also mentioned young left-arm bowler Shoriful Islam, stating that he has enough cricket experience to understand his game.

The former Australian sprinter went on to say that the club has a good depth of young players and that the game in Australia will be entertaining for the next five to seven years.

Jalal Yunus, the chairman of the BCB cricket operation, expressed his delight that Tait is interested in working with the national side but noted that the board would wait to see how he performs in the BPL before deciding.
