Daniel Christian's heroic effort couldn't help Sixers to win against the Scorchers
Sydney Sixers faced the Perth Scorchers in the 34th match of the Big Bash League 2021/22 at the Cannara Oval. After winning the toss, the Perth Scorchers bat first and were left stuttering at 13 overs with five wickets down. Aaron Hardie (45) and Ashton Agar (29), who formed a critical middle combination, helped the Orange men record a respectable 143 on the board.

The Sydney Sixers had a strong bowling lineup, with Hayden Kerr emerging as the best of the bunch. The left-arm seamer claimed four wickets for 32 runs, preventing the opposition from building up a big total. Dan Christian, an all-rounder, took two wickets and finished with 2 for 14 in a four-over spell.

The Sydney Sixers faced a difficult 144-run chase, but it never appeared to be a difficult challenge until the Perth Scorchers bowlers stormed in with a vengeance. The new ball bowlers, Tymal Mills and Lance Morris, were on the money right away, picking up four wickets between them by the 16th run mark. The top four batters had left for the Sydney Sixers, leaving the dressing room in turmoil and the objective now appearing to be a hefty one.

Jordan Silk and Daniel Christian were tasked with repairing the damage, and they managed to put up a 45-run alliance before the former was ejected. The Perth Scorchers bowlers took wickets at regular intervals, putting pressure on the Sixers on the scoreboard. Dan Christian, an experienced hand, stepped in for a bit, but he had too much to do on his own. The right-hander reduced the target to 20 from 7 deliveries before being removed by Andrew Tye to seal the game.

Tye concluded with three wickets for 17 runs, but Aaron Hardie was named the man of the match for his crucial 45. The Perth Scorchers remain on top of the points standings with 8 victories in 9 games, 6 points ahead of the Sydney Sixers in second place.
