2020 International Emmy Awards: 'Delhi Crime' Wins Top Prize As Netflix Sweeps Top Categories

The winners of the 48th International Emmy Awards were announced, and it was Netflix who dominated the virtual ceremony this year after sweeping away the night's top two prizes. Netflix series "Delhi Crime" won the event's Best Drama Series accolade, making it the first Indian series ever to win an Emmy. On its official website, the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences declared the winners. "Delhi Crime" won the highest prize for telling the story of the horrific 2012 Delhi gang rape and murder case that rocked the nation entirely and prompted the Indian government to enforce more stringent laws. The show chronicles the journey of Vartika Chaturvedi, deputy commissioner (pictured by Shefali Shah) and the Delhi Police team, who are responsible for identifying the culprits and coping with the aftermath of such a heinous crime.
The show's producer thanked everyone who supported the project from its beginning and dedicated the award to all women who, even after doing so much for society, suffer abuse. On the other side, for her impeccable work on the British television series "Elizabeth is Missing," two-time Oscar-winner Glenda Jackson won the Best Performance by an Actress award. Billy Barratt is another actor who made history in this year's case. In the 48-year history of the ceremony, the 13-year-old actor became the youngest person to receive the Best Performance by an Actor award. In the hit TV series "Responsible Child," Barratt was awarded the prize for playing Ray's character.
